Bookings and payment
All bookings are subject to availability and are confirmed upon receipt of payment. Bookings are processed through FareHarbor. By completing a booking you agree to FareHarbor's terms of service in addition to these terms.
Cancellation and rescheduling — boat hire and BBQ boats
We understand that plans change. The following applies to all day hire bookings including BBQ pontoon boats, runabouts, kayaks, paddleboards and lake cruises:
- More than 7 days before your booking: Cancellations are accepted with a full refund minus a 10% administration fee. Rescheduling to another date is free of charge, subject to availability.
- 3 to 7 days before your booking: A 20% cancellation fee applies. Rescheduling is available for a $50 fee, subject to availability.
- Less than 3 days before your booking: Cancellations are non-refundable. Rescheduling may be available for a $100 fee if the slot can be rebooked by another customer.
- Peak periods (school holidays, long weekends, public holidays): If you cancel less than 3 days before your booking and the boat cannot be rehired for the same time slot, the full booking amount is forfeited.
Cancellation and rescheduling — houseboat hire
Houseboat hire is booked through our sister website, Forster Houseboat Hire. The following terms apply to overnight houseboat bookings:
- 60 days or more before departure: Cancellations are accepted minus a 20% cancellation fee.
- Less than 60 days before departure: Cancellations can only be granted if the same houseboat is rehired for the same price, minus the applicable fee. A $250 rebooking fee applies to any date change.
- Security bond: A $1,000 security bond ($1,500 for same-sex groups under 30) is required to secure a houseboat booking. The bond is refunded within 7 days of return, less fuel charges and any damage deductions.
Travel insurance is strongly recommended for houseboat holidays.
Weather policy
We want you to have a great experience on Wallis Lake, but we cannot guarantee perfect weather. Here's how we handle weather-related changes:
- Unsafe conditions (heavy rain, strong winds, storms, small craft warnings): If we determine conditions are unsafe for your booking, we will offer you a complimentary reschedule to the next available date or a full credit toward a future booking. Your safety comes first.
- Mild weather (cloudy skies, light showers, cool temperatures): A bit of cloud or a passing shower does not make conditions unsafe. Boating on the lake in light weather is perfectly safe and can still be a wonderful experience. In these cases, standard cancellation terms apply — rescheduling is available for a fee subject to availability.
- Peak period forfeit: During school holidays and long weekends, if you choose not to proceed due to mild weather and the boat cannot be rehired for the same time slot, the booking amount is forfeited.
- Our call: The decision on whether conditions are unsafe is made by Boatshed Number One staff based on current Bureau of Meteorology advice and on-water conditions. We will contact you as early as possible if we believe conditions are unsafe.

Safety
All hire participants must follow the safety briefing provided by Boatshed Number One staff before departing. Life jackets must be worn by all children at all times on the water. The operator of any self-hire vessel must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Boatshed Number One reserves the right to refuse hire to any person who appears intoxicated or otherwise unsafe to operate a vessel.
Liability
Hire vessels are provided in good working order. Boatshed Number One is not liable for personal injury or property damage arising from misuse of hire equipment or failure to follow safety instructions. All hire is at the customer's own risk.
